Senior Lighting Designer
David Levitt
Seattle, WA
David cherishes open and frequent communication with architects and co-designers working alongside him and sees his lighting as an element in service of a larger vision.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, David moved west and joined the Seattle architectural lighting community in 2022. Since beginning his career in entertainment lighting in 2013, he has been fortunate enough to touch most corners of the lighting design universe. His broad background of experience in live entertainment, commercials, events, broadcast television, and most recently architectural lighting has afforded him a defined aesthetic, a strong understanding of lighting and composition, a uniquely hands-on background in lighting control systems, and the mental flexibility to lead a tremendous variety of projects.
David prides himself on bringing a deeply collaborative approach to his projects. He cherishes open and frequent communication with architects and co-designers working alongside him and sees his lighting as an element in service of a larger vision. He considers himself incredibly fortunate to be a professional problem-solver in a vocation that implores him to constantly seek new knowledge and better paths forward. A thoughtful architectural lighting design applies the hard-earned vernacular and visual language of a committed few to the lived experience of a location’s many inhabitants for years to come. What a challenge, a responsibility, and an incredible joy to contribute lighting to your project.
Outside of work, David enjoys hiking, camping, climbing, and long trips to new places with his partner Ana, and their little dog Babka. He grew up doing word puzzles and loves finding a quiet place to sit with New York Times crossword puzzles and acrostics. He has even competed in a few crossword puzzle tournaments! David also plays dodgeball competitively and travels with a Seattle based team that is ranked in the top-10 in North America.
