Commissioning Agent
Aaron Whitlatch
Seattle, WA
Aaron is known for bringing structure to complex projects without adding unnecessary complexity.
Aaron is a commissioning agent with a background in energy modeling who moved into field work for a simple reason: he wanted to see firsthand whether buildings actually perform as intended once they’re built and operational. After hearing too many stories of systems that looked great on paper but fell short in practice, he shifted his focus to closing that gap. With 2+ years of commissioning experience and a systems-minded approach, he emphasizes clear control sequences and thorough, unambiguous documentation that facilities teams can rely on long after project turnover.
Aaron is known for bringing structure to complex projects without adding unnecessary complexity. He regularly asks “why are we doing it this way?” and looks for opportunities to strengthen workflows rather than following legacy processes out of habit. That mindset extends beyond individual projects through his involvement in BCxA advocacy efforts and contributions to local- and state-level building code development aimed at clearer, more practical, and enforceable requirements.
Outside of work, Aaron is happiest doing something social — ideally with friends, at a concert, or with a basketball or baseball game on in the background. When he’s not doing that, he enjoys hiking and backpacking, biking, irritating his dog, and volunteering weekly with a youth tutoring program.
